A pre-existing condition is a disease, illness or injury which you have received medication, treatment or advice for; or that you have experienced symptoms before the start of your cover, whether or not you have sought advice from a medical professional.
Private health insurance provides a sense of security and reassurance so businesses can enjoy the benefits of a happier, healthier and more satisfied workforce. Pre-existing conditions are not usually covered by health insurers across the UK, but here at General & Medical, we want to give you the reassurance you need when it comes to the health of your employees or members by offering cover for pre-existing conditions.
If one of your employees or members has a flare-up of their pre-existing conditions then they will be able to undergo the treatment they need quickly, which can even result in a reduction of employee absences, benefiting your business.
You can choose to extend your employees or members cover to include up to two of the pre-defined condition listed below, for an additional premium.
There is an annual limit of £1,000 each year for the above pre-existing conditions. Your employees or members will also receive our rolling benefit, providing cover has been continuous and there have been no claims made relating to the pre-existing condition, each year the annual limit will roll up £1,000 to a maximum of £10,000 after 10 years of cover.
When it comes to your employees or members choosing the right underwriting options, it’s important to consider whether or not some of your pre-existing conditions will be covered later on. We offer a range of underwriting options for you to choose from which includes new underwriting and we can also offer those looking to transfer from an existing scheme continued underwriting options. Find out more about our underwriting options.
