7 Halloween Sweets & Treats

Get your little monsters involved this Halloween and try out our hair-raising recipes, with some even tricking the little ones into eating healthy treats too!

1) Spooky Punch

Spooky Punch

You will need:

  • Permanent marker pen.
  • Clean empty jam jars.
  • Mixed coloured fruit juices.
  • Green and orange straws.

Method:

  1. Get the kids involved by getting them to draw their best freaky faces on the jam jars (make sure they are supervised with the permanent marker pens!)
  2. Choose your favourite flavour fruit juices and experiment with mixing the colours to see who can create the most gruesome Halloween concoction!

2) Severed Finger Buns

Severed Finger Buns

You will need:

  • Hot dog rolls.
  • Hot dogs.
  • Tomato ketchup.

Method:

  1. Carefully cut a small piece of the hot dog off one end to make the nail shape, and then make some incisions to create the knuckles of the freaky fingers.
  2. Cook the hot dogs as per the instructions on the packet.
  3. Place cooked hot dogs into the hot dog rolls and add some tomato ketchup to finish off the gruesome look!

3) Frightful Fruity Phantoms

Frightful Fruity Phantoms

You will need:

  • White chocolate.
  • Strawberries.
  • Greaseproof paper.
  • Black and white writing icing.
  • Cake cases.

Method:

  1. Cover a tray with greaseproof paper and melt the white chocolate in the microwave in short 30 second bursts until melted.
  2. Cut off the tops of the strawberries.
  3. Dip the strawberries in the melted white chocolate and place on the tray with the tip of the strawberry pointing up.
  4. Use the leftover white chocolate to make the arm shapes on the greaseproof paper using a piping bag or icing tool.
  5. Leave in the fridge until chillingly cool, assemble in the cake case using more melted white chocolate to secure in the case and attach the arms.
  6. With the coloured writing icing, draw your most frightening face on your phantom!

4) Spook-tacular Burgers

Spook-tacular Burgers

You will need:

  • Burger buns.
  • Burgers.
  • Cheese singles.
  • Tomato ketchup.

Method:

  1. Cook the burgers as per the instructions on the packet.
  2. Cut your frightful face out of the cheese singles and place on top of the cooked burgers, placing back in the oven for one minute if you would prefer for the cheese to melt.
  3. Spread the tomato ketchup over the bottom of the burger buns and place your spooky burger on top.

5) Gory Ghost Cakes

Gory Ghost Cakes

You will need:

  • Ready baked cupcakes.
  • Ready rolled white icing.
  • Black icing.
  • Buttercream icing.
  • Sweets to decorate if required.

Method:

  1. Spread a small amount of the buttercream icing on top of each cupcake.
  2. Use a small plate to cut out a circle of the rolled out white icing.
  3. Fold the icing to look like the pictured ghost shape and place on top of the buttercream on the cupcake to secure.
  4. Roll small balls of the black icing and press onto the ghost shape to make a spooky face.

6) Boo-nanas & Mini Pumpkins

Halloween Boo-nanas and Pumpkins

You will need:

  • Bananas.
  • Chocolate chips.
  • Tangerines.
  • Celery.

Method:

  1. Peel bananas and tangerines.
  2. Cut bananas in half and add chocolate chips to create the Boo-nana face.
  3. Cut a small section of celery and insert into the middle of the tangerine to create your pumpkins.

7) Fang-tastic Halloween Teeth

Fang-tastic Halloween Teeth

You will need:

  • Apples.
  • Peanut butter.
  • Marshmallows.

Method:

  1. Cut small sections of the apples and spread peanut butter on one side.
  2. Add marshmallows to half of the apple sections to make the teeth.
  3. Stick the remaining apple sections on top of those with the marshmallows to finish your nasty gnashers.
