Early May bank holiday weekend – what’s on?
This weekend will see the majority of people enjoying a three-day break and with such lovely weather, you may as well make the most of it!
The Met Office has also predicted that the weather will be glorious in some parts of the UK and there is a chance that temperatures could reach high 20Cs on Monday. So we thought that it would be a great idea to put together a list of different activities and events that are happening around the country to get you out and about.
Scotland - Loch Ness
If you are in Scotland then take a wonderful trip out and visit Nessie this weekend. The perfect place for a lovely stroll and a picnic with the family, enjoying stunning views and scenery. If you want to explore something extra special then take a little look at the cruises and boat tours on offer as well as Urquhart Castle, especially if you are eager to dive into some medieval history. Did you know that the annual Eta Aquariids meteor shower will be visible on 6th – 7th May just after midnight? You might be lucky enough to see around 30 meteors per hour; now that will be spectacular to see!
North East - North Yorkshire
Challenge yourself and the family by exploring Newton Wood and Roseberry Topping in Cleveland this bank holiday. The walk is two miles long and takes approximately one hour to complete. If you need an even better reason to visit, other than indulging in some fresh air and stunning views, then May is the perfect time as the bluebell wood is in full bloom. North West - Lancaster
Williamson Park in Lancaster features 54 acres of wonderful parkland as well as enchanting woodland walks and play areas, perfect for the whole family. Take a picnic, a blanket and some games and spend the day enjoying some quality time together. You can even visit the butterfly house, mini beasts and the small animal zoo for a small price. Midlands - Birmingham
Visit one of Birmingham’s best attractions, the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, which offers stunning glasshouses, beautiful gardens, a playground and a tearoom. Wales - Llandudno
The Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza is running for its 32nd year from 5th May – 7th May 2018. Offering fun for everyone the event features exhibit displays, an old time fairground, competitions, entertainment, bands and a daily parade. East - Suffolk
Kentwell Hall is hosting a wonderful Tudor event with over 100 costumed Tudors and activities taking place around the main house, gardens and grounds. The family can enjoy musical events, plays, dancing and processions throughout the day, as well as exploring a fantastic venue which has lots to do and see. South West - St Ives
Explore and indulge in a tradition that dates back hundreds of years in the West of Cornwall and St Ives on 7th May. Celebrating the arrival of spring, the day starts off with the choosing of the ‘May Queen’, ‘King’, ‘Prince and ‘Princess’, a parade to the harbour front, maypole dancing along the beach and finally a delicious barbeque. South East - Eastbourne
Enjoy a weekend at Magnificent Motors, one of the biggest free motoring spectaculars along the south coast.
