Try these tips for feeling confident and body positive this summer
Summer is a time to have fun, let your hair down and enjoy yourself with your friends and family! As the weather gets warmer, the thought of wearing less clothing and having your legs or arms out can really affect some people’s confidence. Well, don’t let your body confidence get you down this summer, read our tips to feeling confident and remember just be yourself.
1. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else
Social media has exploded over the past decade, and it’s so easy to scroll through your feed and compare yourself to everyone else, especially models with washboard abs and a glowing tan, let's be honest though cellulite and stretch marks are real and normal. This is enough to bring anyone’s confidence or body image down, but look around, where are these people in reality? Everyone’s body is different, and a lot of people have insecurities about the way they look. Join the body positivity movement, own your body, feel positive and let your confidence shine through!
2. Wear clothes that make you feel comfortable
Refresh your wardrobe for summer! If you’re wearing the same old clothes that you’ve been wearing for the past couple of years or so then it might be time to revamp your wardrobe. Treat yourself to some vibrant clothes that you feel comfortable in, find clothes that compliment your body type and most importantly make you feel good.
3. Lean on your loved ones for support
If your confidence is a little bit low, then speak to your friends and family for support. These are the people who know you best, know all of your positive attributes, and can really make you feel great both inside and out. Sometimes we all need a second opinion or a compliment to lift our spirits. If you are looking for weight loss tips, then check out our guide to eating a balanced diet, but remember to always have a positive body image. If you are worried about eating disorders speak to your GP or a family member.
4. Be in the moment
Think about the bigger picture when it comes to your insecurities. Realistically getting down about the way you look is wasting your precious time and energy, instead, collect that energy and put it into feeling good. Take the time to be mindful, appreciate all the lovely things you have and hone into some self-love. It's your own beauty standards and beauty ideals that matter.
