Leap Day: How should you spend your extra 24 hours?
February 29th is a mysterious, time-shifting day that only comes round every 4 years, also known as Leap Day and it doesn’t get enough credit! If you think about it, it’s a gift of time, an extra 24 hours!
You might wake up on the leap day and think nothing of it, but if you remember, why not take advantage of this astrological loophole?
Here are a few ways to spend this special day:
Bike Ride
Dust the cobwebs off the bikes and go on a family bike ride. Spending time outdoors in the fresh air can do wonders for your health! What better way to appreciate the world than amongst nature? Getting outside and enjoying some fresh air is great for your physical health too!
Throw a party
The odds of being born on a leap day are 1 in 1,461 which alone is something to celebrate. So if you were born on February 29th, happy Birthday! Have a party and celebrate on your official Birthday!
Play leapfrog
Did you know, the frog is a symbol associated with February 29? The Australian rocket frog can leap over two metres. Why not give it a go yourself? Grab a friend and play some leapfrog, burn off some energy and have some fun!
Declutter and clean
Make use of your extra day and have a good old tidy up! Did you know clutter can actually have an effect on your mental and physical health? Decluttering your house can help reduce anxiety as cluttered spaces can overwhelm your mind and can cause you to be irritable and stressed.
Learn a new skill
Use your extra 24 hours to your advantage and learn a new skill. Whether you’ve always wanted to start knitting, magic, dance or even a language!
Plan a day trip
Go somewhere meaningful to you, whether it’s a town, city, or even the seaside, use your extra time to appreciate what you enjoy the most with the people closest to you.
Make a time capsule
Take a trip down memory lane and make a time capsule for you to open in four years’ time! Include a photo of your current self, fill it with personal items important to you today or even write a letter to yourself!
