Happy National Picnic Month!
I hope you enjoy picnics because we now have a whole month to celebrate them! The weather is looking great at the moment to pack that picnic bag and get out there.
As long as you don’t forget the essentials, such as plenty of water, sunscreen and those healthy sandwiches!
How to prepare for your picnic
Choosing what foods and drinks to bring on your picnic might be a little harder than what you first thought. Is chocolate a good idea when the weather is so hot, probably not. Or when it comes to preparing your picnic, do you think you would enjoy a nice refreshing warm bottle of water? I didn’t think so. But don’t worry because I'm here to give you some of the best tips to enjoy your picnic.
Preparing for your picnic: It’s always great to prepare in advance some possible options for where to sit and enjoy your picnic. A nice picnic bench in the woods or a nice bit of flat grassy area is also a great option. Ideally you may also want to find a quiet place to sit so your kids have a chance to stand up a little and play. If you think you would prefer to sit on the grass, don’t forget to bring a blanket to sit down on to avoid little insects coming near your lunch. Another great tip for preparing for your picnic might be to freeze some ice blocks to add to a freezer bag in order to keep your drinks nice and cool.
Best foods to bring: When packing for your picnic on a hot day it’s always a good idea to bring ‘snacky bits’ such as sausage rolls and sandwiches. Let’s not forget to bring some fruits to keep healthy too, ideally some fresh strawberries already cut up to make them easy to eat or even some grapes which you can pick off easily for a healthy snack.
How to get involved in National Picnic Month
Getting involved in National Picnic Month can be for everyone and it’s easy to get involved! By going on a picnic with your friends, family or even on your own you’ll be taking part. You could even take a couple of pictures of your picnic and share them to let your friends and family know what you’re getting up to. This could also give you the opportunity to share your favourite ‘must have’ picnic items and find out everyone else's! Maybe you’ll find yourself taking and trying out some new picnic items.
If you’re considering going out for a picnic make sure you put your sunscreen on, your sun hats on and ensure you are drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated throughout the day!
