General & Medical step into Christmas with a day of festive fun, culminating in a £250 donation to Marie Curie from the General & Medical Foundation.
Embracing the Christmas spirit this week along with millions of others across the country, General & Medical got involved with National Christmas Jumper Day, which took place on Thursday 8th December. Employees donned their favourite Christmas attire, put forward their best baking efforts for several competitions and got involved in some merry team-building activities – all for a good cause.
With activities ranging from a ‘Pie Pincher’ quiz and bake-off competition to a guess-the-jar-of-sweets activity and a Save-Santa Escape Room, teams went head-to-head to try and win an assortment of prizes.
"The G&M Foundation was delighted to get involved with National Christmas Jumper Day and donate to such a wonderful cause."
- Gillian Close, Trustee of the General & Medical Foundation
Although the fun and games were a well-enjoyed part of the day, the true goal of the Christmas Jumper Day was to raise money for charity and accordingly, a £250 donation to Marie Curie was made from the G&M Foundation.
A charity close to the hearts of many, Marie Curie offers vital care for individuals suffering from terminal illnesses, including terminal cancer, towards the end of their lives. Any money raised for the charity is spent on crucial caring services, as well as research into terminal illness, campaigning for better end-of-life-care and health awareness.
Gillian Close, Trustee of the General & Medical Foundation commented, "The G&M Foundation was delighted to get involved with National Christmas Jumper Day and donate to such a wonderful cause. We are well aware of the fantastic care that Marie Curie provides for all those adversely affected, particularly at this time of year, so we felt them an extremely worthy cause."
The General & Medical Foundation helps support those whose lives have been affected by medical conditions or disabilities. To find out more information on how to apply for a grant, please call on 01733 362891 or email the team at enquiries@thegmfoundation.org
